Published on May 23rd, 2010

The World Rally Championship is the series of rallying that is conducted by FIA that finishes up with a champion driver and the winning car manufacturer. However, the manufacturer’s world championship and driver’s world championship are the two different championships, but both the championship is based on the similar point system.

The complete tournament includes of thirteen days events driven on the surface that ranges from runway, gravel and ice and snow. The rally is divided into 15 to 25 tough stages that includes run against the timing clock and closing roads. The rally is administered by International Sport World Communicators. They also produce the highlights of each day event which are telecasted in 186 countries.

The world rally championship was first launched in 1973. It is one of the famous international rallies which were earlier used to be a part of European Rally Championship. There are certain criteria for cars which should be fulfilled to enter in World championship like it should contain of 2 liter 4 cylinders, feature with turbo chargers, anti lag technology, 4*4 wheel drive system, chronological gear boxes, aerodynamic parts, weight lessening to a minimum weight of 1230 Kg.

WRC features of three supportive championships, the Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC), the Super 2000 World Rally Championship (SWRC) and the Production World Rally Championship. However, these three championships are conducted on the similar tracks and events of the WRC, but the rule and regulation of these championships are different from each other.

Before the rally starts the competing cars are modified to the precise conditions of the tracks where they are going to perform. The engineers set the suspensions and adjust them according to the stages (tracks). They also check the tyres whether they are suitable or not for the four wheel drive system. If not then they will modify them to suit the conditions of the upcoming tracks.

This FIA had already announced that the point structure for this season of WRC will remain same as the Formula One. Formula One is going to espouse a top ten scoring method which will proof to be a bigger difference between the winner and runners up. This is done to encourage the drivers to race for victory.

2010 will be proud season for FIA World Rally Championship as this will be their 38th season a step forward towards their golden jubilee. This season includes 13 rallies and the inauguration began with Rally Sweden. Some changes have been made to make the event grand success and to reduce the previous difficulties. In this the organizers of the event are given more flexibility so that they can work in hassle free atmosphere.

In this season the WRC desires to initiate a ranking system like in golf or tennis that will be called the Drivers' World Rally Ranking system. In order to give points to more finishers in the rally a new points system is going to be introduced. So come and enjoy this world rally championship and see your favorite car manufacturer and driver winning the race.
